Go ahead, Gabriela! :)

[image text] Gabriela is a bodybuilder, and people often say that she is “ruining her body”. Gabriela, just ignore those who try to make you feel bad about following your dream. It’s your body, you are the one who should enjoy it!

“Because we don’t speak about sex, there is no socially acceptable language surrounding it. So the language of porn has jumped in to fill that space, and that’s an issue, because in a male-dominated industry the language of porn is all too often male-generated. The person who coined the term “finger blasting” didn’t have a vagina. The person who coined the term, “getting your ass railed” never got their ass railed. Pounding, hammering, banging… And language matters, because when the only language you have available is abusive and one-directional, in terms of having things done to you, it creates a very weird view of how sex works.”

I am so over people thinking that Leis look like this:

image

A lei takes hard time and vigorous work. We (Hawaiians) wake up at the crack of dawn to gather whats needed to make the lei that we want. It can take hours or days to make the leis and Hawaiian’s make leis with only good intentions and love because they believe that if you make a lei with malicious intent it will come out into the lei. There is many different ways to make leis and we also make leis from shells and feathers. It isn’t only Hawai’i that makes leis but throughout Polynesia fellow Polynesians make leis in their own style.

To call the above image a lei is disrespectful to my culture and I want that shit to stop. That isn’t a lei, the images in the photoset are leis.

This nurse applying for a job that requires her to prescribe birth control is like a vegan applying to the meat department in a grocery store and telling them they won’t handle any meat then not understanding why they didn’t get the job.

Like honestly, if pro lifers can defend this one I will be truly amazed, surely even you can see the fallacy in this.

“Tumblr is always looking for something to be offended at ugh if you can’t handle jokes than don’t go on Tumblr or the internet”

entitled people who literally get offended by marginalized groups’ desire to feel safe

Seriously this needs to stop. Let’s make a list on why this is gross:

1. “Tumblr” is not a mass entity of social justice bloggers whose mission in life is to annoy you. I’m pretty sure there are more porn and neo nazi blogs than social justice blogs. So why are SJ blogs getting more hate than neo nazi blogs? And why is every blog that mentions oppression called an SJ blog? It’s like people don’t know that oppression is actually a 24/7 experience and not a hypothetical theory.

2. People keep using the word “offended” ad nauseum when talking about this. No one is getting “offended”. No one is getting “offended”. Doesn’t that just mean annoyed? No, people are getting HARMED.Being triggered causes panic attacks and flashbacks. “Jokes” and slurs remind marginalized people that they are not valued and seen as one-dimensional and subhuman. Your stereotypical comments and microaggressions aren’t “mildly irritating”, they’re painful. You are hurting people and instead of changing you’re insisting that you’re the victim. Tbh that level of apathy and callousness is terrifying.

3. Did I miss something? Because I’m pretty sure adding a trigger warning in a post takes .5 seconds, yet you all are whining about it like it’s some huge sacrifice. Wtf? It’s not a big deal at all. You just seem to be angry at the idea of accommodating others. People can’t control their panic attacks or flashbacks, but you can control your tags. But apparently people who need trigger warnings only exist to inconvenience you. Stop making this about you.
